A roundup, not a sales pitch
Yes, Rekkko is one of them, and I will tell you where the others are the better answer. Pricing changes constantly, so check each site before you decide.
Start recording for freeMost people leave Loom for one of three reasons. The free plan stops recording at five minutes, which lands right in the middle of the part that needed explaining. The free library keeps 25 videos, and removing those limits means Business at $18 per user per month, or $24 with AI, checked on loom.com/pricing on September 16, 2026. Or the install itself is the problem, because a desktop app on a managed work laptop needs approval you are not going to get today.
The good news is that async video is a crowded category now, and several of these tools do one thing better than Loom does. The bad news is that most comparison pages are written by whoever wants your signup. So here is the shape of each one, including the cases where you should not pick mine.
Ordered by how different they are from Loom, not by which I like most. Pricing is deliberately not quoted here because it moves.
Best for: recording something quickly on any laptop, including a locked-down one
Records in your desktop browser with no app and no extension. Ten minutes per recording and 100 videos on the free plan, or two hours and unlimited videos on Founding Member at $3 a month or $49 once, a transcript for every recording, and a timeline where you can trim, remove silences and filler words, or cut a section by deleting words from the transcript. Links open for anyone without an account, and you can add a password or an expiry. What it does not have: a desktop app, team workspaces with seats and roles, or integrations. Recording needs a desktop browser and each recording caps at 2 GB.
Best for: recordings that need to look designed
Tella leans into presentation. Backgrounds, layouts, zooms and camera framing are the point, so a product demo or a launch video comes out looking deliberate rather than like a screen share. That polish costs setup time, which is exactly what you do not want when you are answering a question in ninety seconds. If your recordings are shown to customers rather than teammates, this is the one to look at.

An open source Chrome extension that records and annotates locally. Nothing to sign up for, and the recording stays on your machine, which some people strongly prefer. The flip side is that there is no hosting and no link: you get a file, and sharing it is your problem, whether that means Drive, WeTransfer or an attachment. It also needs the extension installed, which is the thing many work laptops block.
Visit their siteBest for: sales teams who need video inside a CRM
Built around selling. Viewer tracking, calls to action inside the player, landing pages and CRM integrations are the reason people buy it. If your video is part of a pipeline and someone reports on it, that plumbing is worth paying for. If you just want to explain a bug to a developer, it is a lot of machinery around a ninety-second clip.
Visit their siteBest for: teams drowning in meetings
Claap treats video as a team workspace: meeting recordings, notes and async updates living together with comments and search across them. If your problem is that half your calls could have been a video and nobody can find anything afterwards, that is the pitch. If you are one person who needs a link, it is more product than you need.
Visit their siteBest for: people who mostly need screenshots and only sometimes video
Formerly CloudApp. Screenshots, annotation, GIFs and screen recording in one desktop tool, with instant uploads and links. If most of your day is marking up screens and the occasional recording, having both in one place is genuinely useful. It is a desktop app, so the install question comes back.
Visit their siteStart with the thing that blocks you. If you cannot install software, you are choosing between browser recorders, which rules out the desktop apps and the extension. If your recording is customer-facing, polish wins and Tella is the obvious look. If it needs to sit in a sales pipeline, Vidyard exists for that and nothing here replaces it. If the video is for a colleague and needs to exist in the next two minutes, the fastest recorder wins, and speed is the whole reason Rekkko is plain.
The second question is who watches. Anything that asks the viewer to sign in loses you people, especially clients and candidates. Check that before you commit, because it is the part nobody mentions in a feature table.
If you want backgrounds, zoom effects and a designed look, Tella is better at that and I am not going to pretend otherwise. If you need seats, admin roles and workspace permissions for a large team, Rekkko does not have them yet. If you want everything to stay on your own machine with no account, Screenity fits that better. If you need CRM tracking, Vidyard is built for it.
Rekkko is for the everyday case: something needs explaining, typing it would take four paragraphs, and you want a link in the chat before you lose the thread. No install, a free plan that covers most of it, and nothing for the other person to sign into.
Better you read this here than find out halfway through a recording.
