Smart recap

Walkthroughs that turn into screenshots and notes.

You talk through your screen as you record. Rekkko lists the moments you talked about, each with a screenshot from that point and the clip to play.

How it works

There is no button to press. It runs by itself after the transcript is ready.

  1. 1

Record and talk as you go

Record your screen in the browser and say what you are looking at, the way you would explain it to a teammate.

  2. 2

    The transcript is made

When the recording finishes, Rekkko writes the transcript and the summary automatically.

  3. 3

The recap is made from what you said

Rekkko reads the transcript and picks out the moments you talked about. The time of each moment comes from your words, so it lines up with the video.

  4. 4

    Share it

Download a ZIP with the images and a Markdown file for Notion or GitHub, or copy Markdown to paste into Slack.

What each moment shows

A number and a type

Each moment is numbered in order and marked as a Feature, Step, Decision, Highlight or Issue. Issues also get a severity.

Your exact words

The sentence you said is quoted under the moment, so nobody has to guess what you meant.

A screenshot from that point

A full quality still taken from the recording near the end of what you said about it, when the screen usually shows the thing.

The clip, right in the card

Switch the card from Screenshot to Video to play just that part, without scrolling back up to the main player.

Your own moments

Add a moment at the current time, or edit and delete any moment. Moments you add yourself are kept when the recap updates.

Updates after an edit

When you edit the recording, the recap is made again from the new version.

Who it is for

Product demos, where each feature you show becomes a moment. QA and design reviews, where each problem you point out becomes a numbered issue with a screenshot. How to guides and training, where each step is listed in order. Handovers, where the decisions you mention are written down.

How this compares to Loom

Loom is a mature tool with a lot to offer. Its paid AI plan includes automatic summaries, chapters, and workflows that turn a video into documents, tickets or messages, and it connects deeply with Atlassian tools. If you want tickets created for you, Loom does more than Rekkko here.

Rekkko's Smart recap is narrower. It gives you numbered moments with a screenshot and a clip for each, made automatically, and it is included on the free plan today. You paste the export into your own tools.

What it does not do

Plainly, so you know before you rely on it.

  • It only picks up what you say out loud. It does not look at the screen to find things you did not mention.
  • Recordings with no talking, or very short ones, do not get a recap.
  • It does not create Jira, Linear or GitHub tickets for you. You paste the export in yourself.
  • It assumes one person is speaking. It does not tell different voices apart.
  • Copied Markdown image links last one day. The ZIP keeps the images for good.

FAQ

Questions about Smart recap

Do I need to press anything?

No. The recap is made automatically after the transcript is ready, and it updates after you edit the recording.

Does it cost extra?

No. It is included on the free plan today, within the daily AI limits.

Why is there no recap on my recording?

It needs enough talking to work with. Silent or very short recordings are skipped, and it also needs AI turned on in your settings.

Can viewers see it?

Yes, people with the link can see the moments and share them. Only you can add, edit or delete moments.

Is a password protected recording safe?

Screenshots are checked every time they load. If the link is turned off, expired or locked with a password, they are not shown.

What format are the screenshots?

Lossless WebP, or PNG on browsers where WebP would not be exact. Never JPEG.

Ready to record something?

It runs in your browser. Nothing to install, no card, and the link works for anyone you send it to.
