Who Tella is for
Tella treats the recording as something you present. Backgrounds, layouts, camera framing and zooms are the point, so a product demo, a launch video or a course lesson comes out looking deliberate instead of like a shared screen. If your video is going in front of customers, that polish earns its keep.
The cost is setup. Choosing a layout and a background is time you spend before you have said anything, and it is the wrong trade when a colleague is waiting on an answer. Tella is a paid product, so check their site for the current plans.
Who Rekkko is for
Rekkko is the plain one on purpose. Open a tab, pick your screen, talk, stop, paste the link. There is no timer pushing you to rush, nothing to install on a locked-down laptop, and nobody has to sign in to watch. The editing that exists is the editing people actually use: cut the messy start, remove the silences and the filler words, and delete a sentence from the transcript to cut it out of the video.
If you want a launch video, use Tella. If you want to answer a question about a Figma flow or a bug before you lose the thread, this is the shorter path.

The honest limits
Better you read this here than find out halfway through a recording.
- A single recording can be up to 2 GB. Long recordings at high resolution get there faster than you would think.
- Recording works in desktop browsers only. Phones and tablets can watch, but not record.
- You need a free account to record. The people you send the link to need nothing at all.
- Rekkko is free today and I cover the hosting myself, so limits may change as it grows. Nothing gets deleted without telling you.
