Is Rekkko an extension?

Who Screenity is for
Screenity is open source, free, and records locally with a good set of annotation tools. There is no account and nothing leaves your machine unless you send it, which is a real advantage if your recordings are sensitive or your policy says local only.
The part people underestimate is the ending. You stop recording and you have a file. Getting it to someone means Drive, WeTransfer or an attachment, then permissions, then a link that may or may not play in their browser. It also needs the extension installed, and extension permissions are exactly what many managed laptops block.
Who Rekkko is for
Rekkko covers the part after the recording. The video uploads as you record, the link is ready when you stop, and anyone can open it without an account or a download. You can add a password, set an expiry, or turn the link off, and it stops playing for everyone.
There is also editing without leaving the browser, and a transcript. If your day ends with sending a recording to someone else, that saves the whole file-shuffling step.

If the extension is blocked on your laptop, or you are tired of uploading files by hand, that is where Rekkko takes over.
The honest limits
Better you read this here than find out halfway through a recording.
- A single recording can be up to 2 GB. Long recordings at high resolution get there faster than you would think.
- Recording works in desktop browsers only. Phones and tablets can watch, but not record.
- You need a free account to record. The people you send the link to need nothing at all.
- Rekkko is free today and I cover the hosting myself, so limits may change as it grows. Nothing gets deleted without telling you.

Yes. Every recording in your library can be downloaded as a file.
Which is more private?
A local recorder that never uploads is the strictest answer. If you need to send the recording to someone, it stops being local at that point either way.
